Valley Community Center officially opened its doors at its Grand Opening celebration on June 7, 2013. Since that time we have welcomed thousands of guests and continue to work toward serving and cultivating relationships with the community. We seek to create good will in the community through good works and partnership, to reach diverse groups, and ultimately to impact as many as possible in the Des Moines area.

Valley Community Center is owned and operated by Valley Church as a gift to the community. Our facility and our work is an expression of the church's highest calling: to love God and to love our neighbors.

We truly have a heart for all the people of Des Moines.

Feed Hungry Kids in our Community

1. Booster Pack a Grocery Sack: Feed an at-risk child in the West Des Moines School District by filling a reusable grocery sack with non-perishable items. (Approx. $30 per sack)

2. Picnic & Play Volunteer: Serve lunch to at-risk children in the Waukee School District during the summer. Volunteer commitment is one hour over the lunch hour.

Serve Single Parents

3. Home Provision Project Volunteer: Provide single parents additional hands and feet to accomplish projects and repairs around their homes through our Home Provision program.

Serve Homeless People through Project Impact

4. Assemble Pod Packets to Provide Clean Laundry: Gather your friends, family, or Life Group to bless homeless people with laundry pods and dryer sheets.

5. Assemble We Care Kits to Provide Personal Hygiene Items: Gather your friends, family, or Life Group to bless homeless people with kits of hygiene products.

Invite Your Neighbor to an Iowa Cubs Game

6. Reach out to your neighbor: Simply reach out to your neighbor and invite them to a ball game with you! Email Jeremy Dyvig to get your tickets jeremyd@valleycommunity.center

Host a Mini Block Party in your Neighborhood

7. Host a Mini Block Party: We’ll send you a guide with tips & tricks to host a simple get together for your neighbors. Grab bubbles, sidewalk chalk, popsicles or ice cream and invite people to join you!

Support Your Local Law Enforcement

8. Treat Your Local Policemen or Firefighters: Bake cookies or make a snack & drink basket to deliver to your local station as a thank you for all they do!

Donate Blood to Save Lives in Our Community

9. Donate Blood: Your donation with LifeServe will help save your neighbor, a friend, family member or a stranger in your community! Sign up to donate blood on July 3 at the Valley Community Center.
