2024 Upward Boys and Girls Flag Football(1st-4th Grade) & Cheerleading (K5 - 6th Grade)

Note: Upward Youth Sports are a wholesome, family-friendly, and fun activity for kids. We want our athletes and their families to meet new friends in our community while still being in their comfort zone, so we allow each athlete to request one friend to play with. You will have the opportunity to request a buddy to play with during the registration process.
Early registration fee: $95 (includes jersey top or cheer top + skort + poms)
Optional football shorts/cheer turtleneck: $10

PRACTICE INFORMATION:
Practices begin the week of August 17th
Football: 5:30-6:30pm, on either Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays at Valley Community Center (4444 Fuller Road, West Des Moines, IA 50265)
Cheer: 5:30-6:30pm on Monday nights lower level at Valley Church (4343 Fuller Road, West Des Moines, IA 50265)
ALL GAMES AND FOOTBALL PRACTICES WILL BE HELD AT THE VALLEY COMMUNITY CENTER
GAME INFORMATION:
Games begin on Saturday, September 7th and are approximately one hour in length
Time of games vary (a schedule will be provided in advance. Roughly August 5th)
The league consists of eight consecutive Saturdays beginning September 7th
ALL GAMES AND FOOTBALL PRACTICES WILL BE HELD AT THE VALLEY COMMUNITY CENTER

Coaches
Coaches will receive training, resources and equipment. Weekday practices (M, T or TH) and Saturday morning games, August 17th through October 28th. Provide a great flag football experience by teaching players about the game and encouraging them. No experience needed!
Football Officials
Saturday mornings 8:15am to 11:45am, September 7th through October 26th: Upward Flag football referees are the highest authority figures on the field. They lead by example. The best referees are the ones who are committed to providing the best sports experience for every child. Enforce the rules of the game, communicate with coaches and provide encouragement to the players.
Scorekeeper
Keep the clock and score of games. No experience necessary. No score for K5.
Field Set-Up
Volunteers are needed to come from 7:00-8:30am to set up fields for the day's games.
*For those needing Silver Cord Hours, you will be able to get credit but will not receive monetary payment for refereeing. The Silver Cord program requires hours to be volunteer (unpaid), so we will be able to grant you either Silver Cord Credit OR pay you per game.
Time Requirements: Games are 1 hour each weekend!

If practices or games are canceled, we do our best to make the call 2 hours prior to first scheduled event. You will receive an email notification.
